I ordered these for crafts on a school trip. The product was as described with more curves in the upper size limit. The rind was intact on all pieces and both sides were smooth. Wood surfaces tolerated acrylic and sharpie markers well. You can always seal your work afterwards, which can also help preserve the rind. Looking at various sources for these types of products, I noticed that some of them came with pre-drilled holes. It's not, and no one is claiming it is, but just be prepared to poke your own holes. I chose this option to have more freedom in choosing the material for the string or cord that we will use to make necklaces or lockets. And for this application I prefer 2 holes next to each other so the circles lay flat when worn. I will order this again.
