It is exactly what I expected from the picture, a dish of black marble, polished to be shiny. I received my order promptly, allowing me to promptly put my soap in the dish and then write this review. This dish is a craft of Egypt, and while missing any obvious marks that makes it definitively Egyptian, I suspect that if an Egyptian wanted a shiny black marble dish for soap, it would look rather like this. This dish has inspired me to purchase more black marble objects, and I will likely purchase more of these dishes for other soap in my house. I like the dish so much, actually, that I may replace the liquid hand soap in my house with solid soap that I can put the solid soap in black marble dishes. Under this plan, I will buy more black marble dishes from this company. If there is a platonic ideal of a black marble soap dish, this soap dish would be it. I cannot write about the color or quality of the other dishes (the ones offered by this company that are not black marble dishes), aside from speculating that they are also dishes made of stone, most likely marble and also most likely not black.***Late entry: during the writing of this review, I checked my dish to confirm that it remained a black marble soap dish and it did! It was still shiny and pleasant to behold. It also still contained the soap I put in it.
