I was a little disappointed when I bought the non-custom model, only to find that a custom model was available shortly after. It seemed trivial, a 24 -Allowing hour schedule setting if it was even a feature. I ended up buying a custom one for another tank and it turns out that the new remote lets me tweak the old light! Obviously it's cheaper to just make a jig and to offer these at two different prices. It's stupid that the difference is only in the buttons on the remote control but that's how the production works. The only problem I had with these lights is that there was an error in the 24/ 7 program that can cause them to go into a weird state where the remote control or device de seems to be ok. This happens when you press the power button in 24/7 mode when the light goes out obligatory between 2am and 5am when neither the light nor the power/mode indicator of the remote control receiver are on. It's hard to tell what state the controller is in at this point. Therefore, if you turn it off during this time, it will get stuck in this mode and will not respond. Pressing various combinations of the power button, 24/7 button, and time of day selection buttons eventually resolves the issue.
