I bought these to wear as a base layer for a number of purposes: 1) motorcycling (under my motorcycle jacket) 2) cold, under a t-shirt 3) under a ski jacket They are very good for all of these goals. . I've worn them on my motorcycle in both cold and hot weather. Under a mesh jacket they wick sweat very well keeping me cool and in cold weather they held in just enough warmth without being too hot. They are very comfortable and don't itch like wool might make you think. However, I would recommend giving them a wash before wearing to soften them up a bit. They can be machine washed and dried. In terms of construction, they've held up pretty well considering I've been wearing them almost every day for the last 10 months (putting them on and taking them off twice a day on the way to work). Bicycle). You're still in great shape. I washed them about once a week and they have never smelled so bad. The wool did a great job of getting bacteria out of the way. All in all I would buy them again (and just bought them). If you're going on expeditions in cold weather you might want to get the mid-weight Minus33 equivalents, but they work well in both warm and cold weather.
