This remote controlled collar has proved very helpful in training our not so new dog. We recently inherited a 10 year old Jack Russell who was never properly trained on behavioral issues. This collar proved to be the most effective in teaching this old dog acceptable canine behavior. Only twice has the shock portion of the collar had to be used, and that was after repeated warnings through beeps and vibration functions. Now he simply responds to the beeps and vibrations the collar emits when it's not behaving as it should. In general, this is a safe yet viable option for dog training. The collar itself is of very high quality, and there were no problems with the remote control for its intended purpose.
