My wife and I have fun and it makes a good spill pad when we're mixing drinks. The countertop doesn't need constant cleaning and the bottoms of overflowing glasses don't get as sticky. You need both and nothing less. I originally only wanted one, but I'm glad I got two for another mixing station during parties or for liquor bottles so they don't bang against our stone countertop. In a pinch, I've even (neatly) sliced limes on it without even bothering. We always get compliments on professional looks because who else gets them? I bought this for my sister after she loved ours and saw it as a great housewarming gift for those into entertainment.
