Review on Rand McNally ClearDryve 210 Premium Wireless Headset – Clear Calls with Noise Cancellation, Extended Battery Life, All-Day Comfort, in Black by Jaya Walsh

Very poor sound quality - returned

I was hesitant to spend over $200 on a headset but based on the reviews I bought it. I'm not a trucker (this device seems to be very popular with truckers). As I have a mild hearing problem and often travel to areas with poor cellular coverage resulting in poor call quality, I bought these instead. On the very first test call, the sound quality was terrible, muffled, not at all as clear as I expected from an expensive headset. (During this test, the phone was about two feet from the headset.) During the call, I took off the headset and plugged in the $20 Apple Wired Headphones — a dramatic improvement in quality and clarity. Packed and returned the Rand McNally headset. (For the record, I also have a pair of Bose noise-cancelling over-ear headphones that are almost as expensive as Rand McNally - I mostly use Bose for plane travel while listening to music on my phone - the Rand McNally sound quality isn't ' not even remotely in the same league as Bose.) I don't know why this headset is so popular, maybe there just isn't any competition in the on-ear headset market. The noise cancellation seemed to work well.

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • Approximately
