I had high hopes for this product. Good concept, good price. Apparently you need to get the PERFECT shape on the 1st or 2nd try of the heating process or disaster will happen. "Reform up to 20 times" is false marketing. This thing expands and loses its chemistry after the first two tries. Is there a temperature that will destroy it, somewhere near boiling? If so, would the owl want to tell you what the temperature is? On the first try, I followed the directions to T, heating the water to the set temperature - even measuring it with a digital thermometer - when I then removed the mouthguard from my teeth, part of the back stuck to itself. I put it back in the water but couldn't peel off the backing with a knife. So I decided to put up with the imperfection and tried to get a mold that was "good enough" to use. On my second try I noticed that the small round holes started to stretch after I took it out of the water. The form failed again. I dove back into the water. At this point the canopy had visibly stretched and would not return to its normal shape/chemistry regardless of the water temperature. The round holes became permanent lines. It was useless. Finally, on the fifth try or so, I cut out the badly stretched spines with scissors, heated the whole thing in water, and attached the cut pieces to the top of the guard to try to restore its shape and layering. In the end, it seemed to me that I was working like plasticine. A few hours later, after swallowing lots of pieces of plastic that hopefully wouldn't kill me, I finally gave up. I now have an unsightly blob of night protection that fits my teeth but cuts my gums because of the bumps and sharp edges.
