Review on Fotodiox Ultra Heavy Umbrella Bracket by Clint Miller

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Well made, poorly designed

I was looking for an affordable metal umbrella holder and this turned out to be the perfect solution. Upon arrival I was very impressed with the build quality. All parts are of very high quality and make a durable impression. When the umbrella is plugged in, the product falls through with a bang. First the hole is drilled at the level of the cold shoe, if they are to be drilled at an upward angle so that the flash points to the center of the screen. So it might be tolerable for the bracket to hold the screen level, but there is so much play in it that the screen sags almost as much as it should be tilted up. This way the flash is aimed at the top third of my screen and puts out a lot of light. Maybe an umbrella with a larger stem would work better, but it won't work for my gear. Keep searching.
