Review on 🌾 All-Natural Orchard Grass Hay for Small Pets: Chinchillas, Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Hamsters & Gerbils - Oxbow Animal Health by Linda Floyd

I HATE hay - small animals

I HATE hay and here's why: At first I thought the smell and texture (VERY soft) was good. So does my lonely little guinea pig Annie. She enjoyed it so much that she quickly ate every shot I gave her. And I had to give her an injection every day. She never had enough; she didn't stop for a minute, but ate until every grain was gone, then she started squeaking more and more, incessantly, she just wouldn't stop. It made me shut her up and I was like wow she REALLY likes it and it felt good. BUT, I soon changed my mind. There are serious problems with this hay. Ever since Annie started eating it, her bowel movements have been weird. Usually, guinea pig droppings are semi-solid little balls that are easy to clean up. But ever since she started eating THIS hay, her stools have been flat and soggy every day, all the time. The stools stick to the bedding, her legs, anything they touch. It is almost impossible to keep their cage clean without visiting them several times a day. I don't know if they added anything addictive to the hay, but it certainly APPEARS. I've never SEEN this before. She used to get Timothy's "regular" hay from OXbow; but last time I bought THAT it was too hard almost like sticks and she didn't eat it at all and I had to throw it away. waste of money. That's why I ordered this Orchard Grass hay, but I'm so sorry I did. I don't know what to give her now because Oxbow seems to have gone to hell. :(
