Review on 13-Inch Apple MacBook Pro with 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD Storage in Space Gray - Previous Model by Wiktor Niekrasz ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best I ever used, recommend it to everybody.

It is a workhorse with the most convenient control. I have the most common model with 8GB of RAM without a touchbar. Previously used a 2022 MacBook Pro, the old man's performance was still excellent and subjectively comparable to this one (I had to replace a 2022 Mac with this one because it was slightly faulty). The same goes for the screen - and then it was cool, and now; and battery life - then it was normal (4-6 hours of active work), and now not much has changed. Any air can easily beat this poppy in terms of battery life. But the body is a real leap forward. To be honest, despite my love for classic Macbook design, when I put this one and the 2022 side by side, I realized that the older Mac looks next to this one like some Acer from 2022 - so bulky. The new one is lighter, smaller, it is convenient to carry it in one hand, subjectively it is more comparable in this respect with the air (although in fact - not quite). About performance - to perform certain tasks of a programmer, I have to work locally with a Docker virtual machine (docker-machine), where several (usually at least 10) containers are spinning at the same time, with things like microservices, caches, queues and databases. In addition, I have many development tools running such as IDE or database clients, Postman and so on, as well as 2 tabbed browsers. As a result, more than 7GB of RAM is constantly used. In this mode, the computer works for many hours every day, does not slow down and does not bring any other discomfort. Output is a great tool for a programmer. If you have a MacBook Pro 2022-2022 and it suits you, there is no point in changing to this IMHO, but if there is no such poppy yet, then this one is definitely worth buying. The ratio of compactness, convenience and performance is the absolute top here.

Pros
  • - Ease of use (everything from trackpad to OS) - The screen, although at first glance does not differ much from the retina of yesteryear - Performance (see below) - Small size and weight - Build quality and materials - Design - Keyboard
Cons
  • - Keyboard. For me, the most comfortable in the history of macbooks, but at the same time it is very prone to sticking, this is officially recognized.
