You MUST install this on the transfer case before plugging it in and powering on. All other similar products have a warning label that says "Do not turn on power until installed", although a YouTube video says so. no label and I attached it. I then had to disconnect the battery and reset the module as it was causing a lot of errors. You MUST place the truck in neutral and have one rear wheel off the ground to rotate the rear driveshaft. this allows play to turn the transfer case selector manually or with pliers, it moves easily with no load. The splines must match exactly. It took some time to adjust the splines on the transfer case to get it properly aligned. AFTER installation, hold the gear selector on the instrument panel fully clockwise (Neutral) and turn the key in. Hold +/- for 30 seconds and release. Finally the display shows 4low. Move the knob slowly for each selection. let the light follow you Eventually I had to turn the drive shaft by hand a bit to get it out of 4low. After everything was tested, everything worked. Initial testing worried me as it wasn't working, just the lights flashing, but I think it was because I had it turned on to test before actually installing it on the transfer case. One more note: I have a handle, not push button selectors as shown in the ad. It seems to work.
