Review on πŸ”§ Schroder RS40064 Ratcheting Tap Wrench: Compact & Versatile 1/4-Inch Tool for Efficient Tapping by Tim Evans

Revainrating 5 out of 5

That is German; You can see the difference

When unpacking, you can see immediately that it is a German tool, not a Chinese or Indian one. It is heavy, well made and gives the impression of a quality instrument. However, my use of this tool is still very limited. I am a cyclist and wear SIDI cycling shoes with spikes and removable heels. The pivot is held in place by a small screw. The heel pad wears out and if you don't stay on it, the top of the screw wears out. At first you try a rubber band and a Phillips screwdriver, but it rarely works. Then take out a 7/64 drill bit and a #1 screw extractor. Sure I could use a vise to turn the screw extractor, but why not an adjustable wrench? There's a reason it gets forty 5-star reviews; and only a 1 star rating. I couldn't justify a $60 FMT brand collar, but none of us need an $8 POS collar.

Pros
  • Wrench
Cons
  • Slightly dented
