I first used Cuprisorb for a saltwater aquarium a few years ago, left it in until the bag wore out, marine life especially my cleaner shrimp thrived. Storms for several years in a row destroyed my aquarium and I rebuilt it into a fresh one. Somehow I got some copper in the water system, that's taken care of. I keep it in a safe, moist place now as my fresh plants need some of the minerals it removes other than copper. Unless you have a lot of copper/metal I don't see how the bag ever needs to be charged, it works. and works and to be honest I would just replace it as the recipe/charging process contains harmful chemicals. The new bag is thinner and has better water flow, better design than what I knew years ago, was happy with the new bag and the material inside
