Tmex Mk1 Collective Test

Collective Test - Let me start by saying that I am an avid fan, supporter, harsh critic and most importantly a lover of Timex watches. I'm only writing this to inform, help and share the excitement of passion we all wis find in this one of a kind watch that fills in many widely recognized gaps, and often ones we don't know. A bit of background in order. Set the desired perspective and contrast. In my collection there are several regular Scouts in brass cases with very "cheap" straps; there were many very good dial color combinations combined with the right strap; makes a very nice looking watch. A few years ago, Timex introduced the Archive collection and several "Allies" models, some of which I own; However, they are none other than the glorified Scout (same brass case) with slightly different dial markers and different hands to distinguish them from the Scouts. A few months later they introduced the Mk1 collection. The Mk1 collection has nothing to do with Scout or Allied. This is a serious watch, completely different case materials, nice convex glass, excellent quality straps and, relatively speaking, decent light. I must add that before purchasing my first (now four) Mk1 I was a little skeptical as I didn't want another famous Scout. In case you're wondering, there's a reason I have four in my collection. The features of the watch are just perfect: case 40mm, lugs 20mm, height 9mm, hands and indexes with luminescent coating; and for those who hate the loud ticking of Boy Scouts and Expeditions; they are actually quieter. The aluminum options are very light but very strong and are fitted with acrylic glass so these scratches can be easily polished out. Timex has made several color variations ranging from matte black, stainless steel, gray to metallic and even matte blue. but many of them are available on the gray market at a bargain price. The quality, finish and obvious military heritage these pieces bring to the table make them a fine addition to any collection. Surely they keep me and will cherish me for years to come. Update: steel or aluminium? The difference is minimal, with one big exception, at least on the pearl white SS. The hands don't shake. Thanks to Indiglo, that doesn't bother me; but all aluminum models have luminous hands. The weight difference is only 0.04 ounces because aluminum is lighter. Both feel the same on the wrist.

Pros

Cons
  • Definitely Bad Product
