My water heater was intermittently spewing water. At first I thought it was the safety valve on the water heater, especially when it wouldn't close all the way when I tried to blow it out. After installing a new pressure reducing valve on the water heater, the valve was spitting out about a liter a day. I checked the water pressure on the house water pressure regulator and found it to be over 100psi. After opening the valve, the pressure is held at 50psi but slowly increases to over 100psi. I had a Wilkins 600 and ordered this 600 XL to replace a broken one. I unscrewed the original clutch, unscrewed the old valve and screwed in the new one; five minutes later the water pressure in the house reached 50 pounds per square inch; no water pressure surges. Three days later, the pressure relief valve on the water heater didn't burp. :))
