This caused a slight temperature drop in close proximity but is best used when sitting next to me on my desk while working on my laptop. I found it didn't make much of a difference to the room even turning it to the max with frozen ice packs and ice cubes in the water tank. On the plus side, I love the portability and the fact that I can use it when it's plugged in. I've also used it in the kitchen in front of me on my kitchen counter while I'm cooking and it's definitely better than just using a regular fan, but again it doesn't really affect the space, just the location where I work or cook.
