Review on πŸ’‘ 1-in-8 Out 40Amp Power Splitter Distributor Source Strip Module by HCDC by John Hall

Surprisingly good workmanship for a cheap clone of the popular but expensive product

This product is clearly intended as a cheap replacement for a good but expensive product that is popular with radio amateurs, particularly in emergency communications. Compared to the original, this HCDC lacks two features. Xikentek.com product: - no blown fuse warning LED - no over/under voltage warning The product looks and feels good. Metal body consisting of two parts, fastened with at least 6 screws. Another 6 screws secure the board to the case. The PCB is two layers with wide current paths on both layers. There is additional high current support with some jumper wires on both the positive and negative rails. The fuse holder for the DC-IN fuse has a different design (suitable for higher currents) than the fuses for the DC-OUT ports. The connectors have an A for genuine Anderson PowerPole connectors (unless they're genuine, I can't tell the difference). The product has an LED to indicate the presence of power, but unlike similar products that use a green LED (indicates normal operation), HCDC has chosen to use a red LED for this purpose (EN 60073 defines red light as an indicator of a dangerous condition). I am happy with this purchase. There is additional high current support with some jumper wires on both the positive and negative rails.
