Review on ๐Ÿ’พ Seagate Ultra Touch SSD 1TB: Portable White USB-C Drive for PC MAC, Android App, and 3-Year Rescue Service by Carmen Jones

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Sleek and gets the job done

The drive was surprisingly small with a little white cloth box. It measures up to 2 3/16" x 2 61/64" x 25/64" with a caliper for those who are detail oriented. At 1.69 oz it is very light. My speed tests with my 2018 MacBook Pro showed 308/361 read/write speeds The connector on the drive itself is a USB 3 Micro B connector, which is becoming increasingly rare as portable drives tend to migrate to the newer USB-C may have issues with this as it may mean having to carry around an extra cable. To compensate for this the cable comes with an adapter. Obviously it's an SSD so I don't have to worry about damaging it It works well in NTFS, ExFat, APFS, MacOS Extended formats. It's logged and will probably be in any other format you can think of. The default is NTFS, so if you need to use it with something other than Windows she format it first. As an experiment, I tried connecting it to my iPad Pro, but the results are inconclusive. I tried using both APFS GUID and MacOS Extended but couldn't get the iPad to show it in the Files app. I formatted the USB stick the same way and it seemed to work with the Lightning adapter I was using, so I'd say it's not always compatible with iOS devices. It seems a little expensive for the price ($85), but I like the light weight. Portability and small size.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • High price
