Review on πŸ”Œ Black SIIG USB 3.0 Active Repeater Cable - 20 Meters (JU-CB0811-S1) by Joseph Morris

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Edit: WILL NOT WORK WITH VALVE INDEX

My goal in purchasing this cable was to bundle it with a 20m DisplayPort optical cable to give an extra long extension for mine Valve Index to get virtual reality helmet. The end result was unsatisfactory. I can use the headset with no lag when I'm on a different floor of the house from my PC, but the pass-through cameras don't work. If you're thinking about buying this cable, you probably already know most of what you need to know about it, so here are a few things I'd like to know beforehand: 1. There are "repeaters" every 5 meters or , little ones Protrusions the size of an AA battery. Only 3 on a 20m cable. That's not a problem for me, but if you're trying to run this through a wall or drilled hole you need to make sure it's accounted for. Although their edges are round, they can snag. My cable is wrapped in nylon mesh tubing with another cable so this problem is solved.2. The cable comes with a power adapter. I didn't see any mention of it, but I wasn't looking closely and expecting to have to use the adapter I already had. There was one in the box. Cool.3. You need to connect a power adapter to get USB 3.0.4 speed. You may need to play around with this a bit. My initial setup procedure was to plug the USB cable into the computer, fix the slack, then unwind the cable where it belongs and plug everything else in. As a result, the cameras didn't work. After plugging and unplugging both ends and doing various software resets, I had success by rebooting my computer with everything plugged in. After that, it turned out as if I was sitting in front of a computer. After that, the cameras stopped working. So be prepared to play around with it, it's not your regular passive power strip. Overall, I'd definitely give it 4/5 stars. VR headsets are strange creatures, and with very high bandwidth and latency sensitivity, I'm not surprised that finding a working solution is difficult.
