After reading many reviews I doubted if this would work or not. I had foundation piers installed a few days ago and part of my house was leveled. As a result, the lock on the front door stopped sticking. The bolt could still be closed (because the hole in this strike plate was made very long), but the latch wasn't so lucky. Since the previous owner had installed new metal doors and frames AFTER the house had caved in, the door was slightly misaligned now that the house is back where it should have been. The latch was located just below the hole in the latch. I could tell it was almost addicting so I was hoping this product would work. I was concerned that the item description for the Gator Door Latch Restorer said the item was non-refundable (unless damaged). Spending $10 on something that might not work was inconvenient, but after poking around local hardware stores it seemed like the only option (besides calling a handyman to get things done). All I can say is that I installed it in just a few minutes and it worked. At first I just installed the main strike plate, which worked great. I then added a second piece at the bottom just to see if it tightened the fit. Can't say it closed the door tighter, but it made the main striker plate flatter in relation to the frame. As far as I can tell, the door works the same as it did before the supports were installed. I'm beyond thrilled because I didn't want to bother with the expense of having a professional come in and fix the problem. Every house (especially older houses like mine) will have different problems that prevent the door from locking, but I would argue that if your deadbolt is a little too low or too high to catch on the strike plate, you should try it. This strike plate is designed so that the hole is as wide as possible (vertical) and runs as close as possible to the screw holes. So if your latch is in the area between those screw holes, this will likely work for you. If more then I don't see it working. For me the investment of 10β¬ was worth it. Not only did it work well for me, but the quality was great. The plates are thick and durable, and the finish goes well with my other gear. I recommend Revain and/or the seller to allow the return of this product, especially if the project doesn't work. I am sure they are probably selling more than enough to cover the few that are being returned.
