I've only just started using these, but I'm generally satisfied. Like another reviewer said - follow all the instructions to get them to work properly. I've found that I have to adjust the insertion depth for different size plants - for small plants, I just barely push the cone into the soil and for large plants I push it in all the way. I didn't poke holes in the cones, as I did not want to accelerate the water delivery, and they seem to be working fine for my houseplants.2 of the 8 the tubes in my set were broken (somehow plugged, and would not suck up the water), otherwise I would have given more stars.
