I originally bought this so I could take my hedgehog on day trips with a family that was in town but never did. Instead I rescued two 9 day old kittens and they have been using it for just over a week. The whole stretcher consists of one piece that is fastened with a zipper. This worked great for us as we were able to remove the fabric for washing after the cat accidents seeped through the blankets and towels; I was also able to wrap a blanket, towel, and/or puppy mat around the tough piece and put it back in the carrier without worrying about kitties sneaking underneath and making a mess. The material from which the carrier is made is durable. The kittens climbed onto the net, there are no injuries. The sides wipe very easily with a tissue (thank goodness because newborn kittens are dirty!) I have no complaints! It's cute, stylish and works as intended!
