This is a well-designed USB Type-C hub that brings back missing ports on your MacBook Pro. Notably, it allows HDMI, SD cards and two USB 3 ports to be connected, and even adds a micro SD slot, which I found to be more stable compared to the full size. However, it uses both ports on the side of the laptop. This is an issue if you plan to upgrade your MacBook Pro in the future and the new model may not be exactly the same distance as this one. (I tested with an extension cord, both plugs seem necessary as they each control a portion of the ports). While it's nice to have HDMI on the back, it would be better to have HDMI 2.0 capable of displaying 4K at 60Hz. Even older Macs have hardware support for this (via the DP adapter), and any productive work at 30Hz is a huge strain on the eyes. At the same time, having a simple extension instead of multiple buttons is very cool, and it's good not to lose the ability to load.
