I ordered 3XL for our 42lb Siberian Husky because she sleeps LONG. It will depend on other roles. The bed arrived rolled up, compressed and sealed. It has a lid that fits over the foam for hygiene reasons. I suggest using a blanket if your dog gets too hot on a foam bed. The foam was already covered by the outer fabric. It takes about 48 hours for the foam to fully expand. A corner of the foam remained pinched and I called the company. They told me to use a steamer or steam iron about 4 to 6 inches away to help the foam expand. This worked almost immediately, so don't panic if you get a compressed corner. I also had an issue with the zipper on the outer shell breaking beyond repair and I had to remove the shell to place the protective case over the foam. I explained the problem and all I had to do was send a photo of the damage and an order confirmation email to Revain and I received a replacement cap straight away. It was great to work with a company that stands behind their product! As the weather is getting warmer, I also inserted a cooling pad between the fabric cover and the foam cover. My husky went to bed straight away, sleeps on it all night, stretches and doesn't fall. The pillows are big enough that she can feel them on her back (as most dogs love to do). I recommend this bed for every dog and I recommend this company.
