Review on RL HM011A Tachometer Replaceable Snowmobile Waterproof by Brad Schaefer

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I installed it on my old snowblower that just got a B&S 1150 engine (8hp old class).

I was a little scared when I first put the battery in and tried to check the tachometer, but nothing happened. I read the article and said that you need to hold down the S1 and S2 buttons to initialize the touch and then it worked fine. I use it to tune the carburetor and set the top RPM and for $10 it works great. I bought the last two at auction for almost $20 each and while they're probably a little better, they're not twice as good! Update: I got a second one and hooked it up to my pressure washer's predator motor. Attached it to the top of the air box with a couple of short screws. I then adjusted the maximum engine RPM from the stock 3600 to around 3900. It really helps with the 3100 psi pump and increases the operating pressure by a few hundred psi. Touch worked fine for the two hours I ran it the other day. I'll be saving a few more as I want one that is NOT motor mounted so I can check the RPM of other things like my chainsaws.

Pros
  • Lighting and Electrical
Cons
  • Slightly torn
