We don't have a towel rail in the bathroom and we had a coat hanger on the door but it caused some scratches and paint removal on the top. I wanted an easy way to hang our towels and this was it. They look like metal, which is nice, and they look decent on our bathroom door. They hold towels fairly well, but if you have really thick and fluffy towels they might not hold up as well, just a note. Plus they work well and don't look weird in our bathroom!
