Review on Experience Superior Quality Visuals with Samsung SyncMaster 920NW 19 Inch Wide Screen 3D Monitor by Sam Burkett

Revainrating 3 out of 5

1 in 3 died within a year

I bought three of these from Staples in July 2009 for three home PCs. They were available in the Staples Special Sale for $149 each and I chose this model based on the attractive display model at Staples and the positive reviews here. The main selling point of the Samsung 920NW was the matte finish, which all three of us prefer. Its 19-inch screen also suited each of us. I tried the 22" HP and it was too wide. We have limited installation space so the monitors are fairly close to users. The monitors were exceptionally easy to set up at home, meaning we just ran the installation CD and it worked great. The default colors and brightness of the Samsung 920NW were also near ideal for our needs. We were all happy with our monitors. My wife's monitor died in early July 2009, less than a year after purchase. It went black and is dying stopped showing as connected to a pc. We sent it to Samsung for service and that service is unacceptable. Samsung tech support did nothing for weeks until we requested either the promised exchange or return of the defective monitor. Then they did sent us a replacement which also doesn't work I had it with Samsung and I'm not going to m big electronics buy more from them. In my case, Samsung failed its warranty. It doesn't matter how attractive or useful a monitor is if it dies within a year and the manufacturer denies its warranty.
