I definitely recommend buying, I didnt notice any disadvantages.

Good for portraits. A nice addition to 18-55 (as mentioned earlier). For lovers just right. Fully justifies its money, if you take it you will never regret it. Its pros: I have a second generation lens. Here's what I can say: the lens is light, fairly clear (of course, it can’t argue with the L-series, but, nevertheless) Good bokeh - I really didn’t expect such a good blur, I didn’t notice any backlash, it fits well in my hand. The stub is good, auto focus is almost never wrong. Some cons: Mini vacuum cleaner. The stub is certainly good but focuses relatively slowly. The trunk leaves, although this is not a problem for me. Small aperture, but this does not bother me because I shoot with flash all the time.

For the money it's a great lens. It gives a nice lamp picture, there is an image stabilizer and more or less decent autofocus. Quite suitable for shooting the moon, I got good, fairly detailed photos. Often comes in a kit set along with 18-55. But, you have to be more careful with it. Once, sand got in there from a strong wind - I had to sort out the lens completely.
