I have bought these filters twice. What I don't like is the price is great and so is the product. Sits securely and snugly so it won't move or slip out when in use. I like putting some essential oil on it before vacuuming it up. (Please be careful when choosing essential oils - some are not suitable for various medical conditions, pregnant women and pets). I could wash it thoroughly and dry it thoroughly to reuse, but I've only had problems doing so - regardless of dryness, the reused item just gives off a slightly off-flavor odor, so I end up throwing it out and putting it away , fresh, new. alone in. This happened even with the manufacturer's more expensive, "genuine" vacuum part, so at that price just fit a new one. Also, you don't run the risk of having mold problems after washing. I would recommend turning the filter off: outside with the wind, in a bag just to keep the dust out, or wearing a mask. The filter works VERY WELL leaving a lot of fine talc like dust that you don't want to breathe in or put on you.
