Both units I have purchased work perfectly. These devices may take 15-60 seconds to connect to my single 2.4GHz N AP that is 3ft away, but they quickly connect to another AP. I'm not sure if this is due to logic or if the antenna on the 8285 is much weaker than on other 8266s. It seems to be on other boards as well. Connect with the standard USB driver CH340/341 for your operating system. Make sure you select the 8285 board from the Arduino IDE board menu (you may run into problems if you select 8266). . This is often the cause of loading/execution problems. I've connected several environmental sensors including DS18B20 (via a 4.7kΞ© resistor at 3.3V and pin D5) and had no problems. Using Arduino IDE v1.8.8 at the time of this review.
