I bought this unit with high hopes of being able to manage my power consumption. I called my electric company (Southern California Edison) to ask a few questions about interpreting my electric bill. I was shocked when they told me that this block was illegal and that if I installed it they would remove it and throw it (from the premises) at the next reading. They think it's a fake. The manufacturer helped me a lot and even called SCE. Unfortunately, they could only ensure that I could not legally use the product. So check beforehand! I ended up with another product called: TED, The Energy Detective. It tracks instantly when you attach it directly to electrical cords. However, hookup required a visit from my electrician ($$).
