Siding/Grab separates from shoe

Bought these for my 10 year old daughter for a recent 2 day hike. We did 3 short hikes and the siding on one boot had already come off the sole. It looks like chewing gum is glued to the sole of her shoe, but it's a rubber insert on a shoe. She said they are quite comfortable but the return period has already passed otherwise I would have asked for a replacement.
