No clear identity, but well thought-out design and good build quality.

In short: overall a very well made product with some thoughtful design elements. However, it is neither an extra thin/light case nor a good protective case. If you already have a reliable laptop bag that offers good protection, this bag can be a good addition to such a kit. However, there are better options up your sleeves if you're looking for a daily commute from your laptop to class or the office due to a lack of protection. Given the size and bulk, you might want to grab a smaller laptop bag with a few grams more padding. Overall this product is good but not quite right for me as an everyday driver. Basically, it's trying to do two great things: offer an ascetically pleasing yet ultra-thin, durable laptop sleeve. However, neither does it. On the plus side, the aesthetics of this product are excellent. The article looks just as good as the stock photos. The construction is solid, with good stitching at the joints, no scuffs or poor quality stitching. The magnetic closure is a more elegant and probably more durable solution than the velcro on the sleeves of the competition. The loading window is well done. Negative aesthetic elements are the relative size of the case and the overall weight/volume associated with it. The case is relatively large compared to other products. It's hard for me when there's only one laptop in the suitcase; Add a charger or other devices and it becomes unwieldy. Marketing it as an ultra-thin product misses what it could be good at, which is a stylish yet useful case. At 0.6 lbs, it is heavier than other similar cases that weigh 0.47-0.53 lbs. It might seem like a small difference, but it's between 13% and 27% heavier. Most 13 inch laptop bags start at 1lb. So if I already weigh 0.6lb, why not add 0.4lb and get a little more space, functionality and protection (see below)? Basically, it's bigger and chunkier than the competition, and it feels a bit lost between lighter cases and thinner laptop bags. Another area is defense. The company's replies point out that the weight/volume (mentioned above) is necessary to provide more protection. However, when looking at this product in terms of protection, it leaves a lot to be desired. Leather patches provide some protection from scratches and bumps. That being said, I don't think leather areas are designed for fall protection. Also, the midsection is just fabric with no padding. Dropping or hitting the center of the case doesn't seem to offer any protection. The argument could be that adding padding doesn't make the body "thin" anymore, but I'm not sure if it was thin to begin with. Not to mention that while the loading window is handy, it leaves a hotspot that can be damaged by water. All in all I think if someone already has a durable laptop bag and would like to add a tote bag in the office or at a conference this could be a good choice. It's fast, unobtrusive/quiet due to the magnetic snaps to open, and great for being able to charge your device without taking it out of the case. However, the bulk, weight, and so-so protection make it a poor choice for some.
