I received this printer a few days ago after my previous Canon Pixma died. This Canon printer was similar to this one, lasted four years and changed locations twice. I paid about $100 for this device and choosing this device for half that price got me thinking. After reading some of the other comments, I admitted I was a little hesitant, but I'm happy to report that setup and printing went as smoothly as could be. There were a couple of situations I read about - the device failing to draw paper and the computer having difficulty recognizing the printer - so I kept a close eye on those issues. Here are some observations: There are a few pieces of orange tape and protective pieces of plastic that need to be removed. This includes the printer itself and the cartridges that come with it. And since the printer is mostly plastic, it should be picked up and carried out of the box by placing your hands on either side of the device rather than the front and back. Do not overload the paper when loading and make sure the paper stop is secure after loading into the tray. Both of these problems can cause the device to be unable to draw on paper. An instruction booklet is included, as is a download site to help with setup, but I recommend using the included DVD if your computer has a DVD slot. This eliminates the need to make almost every decision, including accessing your wireless router. With other printers, I had to enter the security key for your router, which often led to difficulties and failures. There is no such problem here as your router will automatically pause to protect the signal and turn it back on when complete. Before I started, I also deleted all the files from my computer that were needed for the previous printer. I can see where this setup can cause difficulties given the previous files, especially when installing a printer from the same manufacturer. Now that I have a slow download speed, the entire setup took over 30 minutes and at times I wondered if something had gone wrong when the install hung. But patience was finally rewarded when the installation was complete. The DVD will print a test page after setup is complete to determine if there is a printhead alignment issue. This can be another problem for some people, although simply running a printhead alignment test is sufficient if there is a problem. I haven't experienced it either. After my setup, the DVD manual also told me if I wanted to print from another device - for me, I wanted that option for my mobile phone. It was easy too. I downloaded the app from Google Play (I have Android) and following the instructions on my phone it connected to my printer straight away. I had to select my printer from the list on my phone and also select the paper type on the printer, but that was easy. Since then I've printed several different pages and have never had any paper feeding issues. Of course, if you print a lot of pages and do it frequently, this printer isn't for you. But if, like me, you occasionally print a page or multiple pages, then I highly recommend this printer. Yes, the ink is expensive and what comes with the printer isn't much, but at this price point for a reliable good printer, you should. Hope that helps.
