The funnel is easy to assemble but requires spatial thinking. It seemed like it was falling apart because the bolts and nuts were so flimsy and flimsy. I used Loctite glue on the screws and it was stable. The mill works quite well. The fruit of the right size gets stuck in it, and the teeth simply cut a gap and continue to rotate in the same gap. A better coffee grinder would have spur teeth on each wheel, which would increase the chances of slinging stuck fruit hard enough to grind. Instead, the easiest way is to poke it with a stick and flip it over. Loading the hopper is not a good idea. If the fruit "gets stuck" and doesn't grind, the fruit above just holds it in place. If there are 3-4 pieces, he's more likely to jump out of his stuck position and land on the ground. Store fruit for up to half a dozen apples or so in the trash can and it works great. The only real problem I had was that the hopper doesn't fit in the grinder in any specific position. Be careful when attaching the funnel so that the teeth do not rub against the funnel and get caught on it. There's a lot of wiggle room to get it right, but it takes focus to make it work. It took us a bit of fiddling to figure out how to get this thing to work. There is no built in way to attach the grinder to anything and I think that is the biggest missing feature. It would be nice to have the grinder legs on the bucket if they could be controlled. We ended up attaching it to the ladder above the bucket and it worked well enough to end the year. Next year I'll think of something better.
