I have been using this type of antenna for many years. The wire is necessarily thin which makes it a little brittle and my first one (which I bought from Radio Shack over 20 years ago) ended up getting tangled inside and broke. But I justified my money. I have now bought two more so I can keep one at home and one at our vacation spot. They work well and are nice to pack for travel/camping. Of course, you can just use cables of any length, but they're much easier to work with, and the included adapter is handy (the Radio Shack version didn't have a plug, just a clip to snap the antenna into place). I can recommend it.
