I have a 5/8” valve. The OD of the threaded portion (the portion of the valve that fits into the hole in your container) is .612, so it will fit snugly through the 5/8" hole. Some say the flow rate from the valve is relatively slow. Well, you're right, but in my case, I prefer the "slow" stream. Disabling the filter doesn't seem to improve the flow rate. I timed it and it took 28 seconds to fill a 16 ounce drinking glass with a strainer on the valve. I think if you were in a rush it might seem like a long time. The product looks well made. It will probably take a very long time.
