tldr: This device has poorly designed hardware/firmware and contains incorrect/inflated specifications. BUY SOMETHING DIFFERENT. I wanted to use this as a dock where this device stays connected with ethernet and USB-C power and I can just plug and unplug my laptop as needed. I haven't tested the USB-A/HDMI/SD functionality, but Ethernet + Power had major issues.1. The description says it has an AX88179 network chip. It has a RealTek.2 chip. The description states support for 100-watt USB-C PD passthrough. Only supports 90W, which means 2019 16 inch Macbook Pro can't be charged under load.3. The device becomes very hot when connected to a power source (even without a computer connected).4. The Ethernet chip powers on even without a computer connected when plugged into a USB-C upstream power adapter. I assumed it was harmless, but yesterday a device in this state was constantly flooding the network and preventing all other wired ethernet devices from properly receiving DHCP. I didn't do a packet capture to see exactly what was going on, but after an hour of troubleshooting this zombie device was 100% the culprit.
