I finally got a chance to try the upgraded Dell C-640 that I've been using for years. This D series is a bit faster, but not by much. It has more USB ports but only one PCMCIA slot. The built-in Wi-Fi works so I can get by. (I use a PCMCIA adapter to backup to SD cards, not flash drives or external hard drives. I can also read micro SD cards from my cameras. The hard drive is larger, but I don't need it. Built in DVD- the drive should be more reliable than a removable drive in the C-series I would miss being able to replace a floppy drive Yes, I know floppy disks are old Not for me, they're not Things I REALLY dislike: You don't like it Can't use hot-swappable batteries like the C-Series Serious downside when using it in a hunting camp where I don't have AC power The power adapters I have for my C-640s can't be used in my van. The screen is wider for its height than the C series, so text blurs more and my reading speed is slower. I was expecting this computer to be my #1 computer, but that aspect alone tires my eyes It will be a backup of my two existing C-640s until they both die. (which seems to be my current number 1 immortal - over a decade almost always.)
