I installed some 4x4 inch boards in my shop and wanted to install the board without a frame so it looked like a good solution. This would be true if I installed them directly onto the studs. But I installed them over 1/2 inch thick drywall with rivets. The 1/2 inch standoffs are narrow enough to fit directly into the drywall. They're also only useful if you're installing a 24 x 48 piece of pegboard as there really isn't an easy way to keep the spacers in place behind a large piece. So I didn't use them at all, just used 1/2" narrow strips of plywood attached to cleats. It's okay, I can easily find other uses for this gear.
