In my opinion the protector falls off
After about 5 hikes (no trail running and not very long hikes. No more than a few miles) the tread came off the sole of the shoe. Unfortunately, they felt good on their feet and on hikes. I thought I had pretty decent shoes. But it sure didn't take long.
