I was almost ready to give up. I tried installing from the software CD, it didn't help. I tried going to the website and using a more recent version. The device was installed and recognized, but a connection could not be established. So I tried uninstalling both version 1 and version 2, thinking maybe I didn't install version 1 and there was a conflict. Suddenly I couldn't fully recover. I tried reinstalling and I always got an error message with a dialog box. I tried googling the problem. I thought the problem was in the registry. I manually searched for all Belkin files, even hidden ones. Uhh, that was a pain. I went to device drivers and did a bunch of other crap. This turned out to be an easy fix. I just went to Device Drivers, found Belkin in Network Adapters and installed it with Windows and just chose the option to let Windows find the driver automatically. Badabing badabboom, we took off. I'm not a computer dummy at all. I have good experience with a computer, so spending 9 hours trying to get this bullshit to work is just not good. At least all this work wasn't in vain. Good luck to anyone having installation issues. i feel your pain
