I recently bought this lock for my IBM Thinkpad T61. My first impression of this castle far exceeded my expectations. The lock looks professional and secure. Of course, it's not just about how well you make a product, but also how well you explain it to customers. Kensington doesn't do well with the second part. That's the only reason I gave it a 4/5. I had a hard time understanding this part for a few minutes. But I'll find out for myself soon. To avoid this pain for others, here are the details. Start lock check:------------------------------1) Set lock to default code 0000. T-Bar must retract completely. 2) Insert only the front end of the rod into the groove (the rear end of the rod does not go into the groove. Do not use force). !).3) Rotate the latch 90 degrees (both directions) when the front end of the rod is square to the slot.4) Gently slide the latch all the way in until the rubber groove touches your computer.5) Keep this position at, change lock numbers. The computer is now locked. There should be no separation between the lock and the computer case. The lock is slightly loosened and rotates to accommodate a change in laptop orientation, etc. This fourth instruction is missing from the manual, and people end up with a lot of space between their computer and the case. In fact, you can easily remove the lock if you don't follow step 4. --- 1) Bring the digital lock to the old combination. In my case it was the default 0000.2) This is important. The subsystems of this lock move and rotate independently of each other. So it's important to hold onto the T-bar while making this change. 3) Turn the groove clockwise with a coin. The manual says counterclockwise. This groove should be fairly easy to turn. If not, then you are doing it wrong. 4) This is the most important thing. The instructions say to rotate 90 degrees until a red dot appears. It's really confusing. First, the yellow line (to which the number is aligned) doesn't go away, it turns red. Rotating 90 degrees aligns the red dot with the yellow line. The red part appears in a small cut next to the yellow line. 5) Pick a new number and rotate the groove 90 degrees in the opposite direction. It is really difficult for a first time user to understand this system if it is not properly explained. The manual provides 3 points or several images for this, which completely confuses the user. I hope Kensington fixes this quickly. Once you understand how the lock works, it's just amazing. I hope this review helps.
