I love functional and easy-care gadgets. This bird really does serve a great purpose and any drips will be contained by the well designed screw top handle. The spout under the "beak" is metal and recessed just enough for any drips to flow down the metal spout into the lid and back into the glass bottle. All drops are self-sufficient. This is not an airtight container as it cannot be sealed due to the metal spout and drip hole in the lid. It's not intended for long-term storage of oils as it's unsealed and the clear jar doesn't protect the olive oil from sunlight, but I love it and we use a lot of olive oil so I'm not worried about the oil going rancid.
