Unfortunately, this device offers an extremely narrow range of 3 1080p capture bit rates: around 22 Mbps maximum and 18 Mbps minimum. The quality of the captured image between the 3 bit rate settings is almost indistinguishable from each other. This destroys the value of several acquisition bitrates when the minimum setting has almost the same Q result image and file size as the maximum setting. The file size limit of just under 4MB is a problem, at least 2hi. The most serious problem is that as soon as a new file starts, the video/audio sync of the current recording goes from 'OK' (+/- 3 frames fine sync) to less than 1.5 seconds from fine synchronization is completely lost, 3 out of 4 times. Even at the lowest bitrate of 1080p, you only get just over 30 minutes of recording time, after which v/a sync is lost for no reason. stay in good shape (reasonable = up to (3) 30 fps from just fine). This is the lowest bitrate of 1080p (around 31-32 minutes at 3.95GB), which is almost as good as the maximum in terms of image quality (where your 3.95GB file has around 27 minutes of audio/ video would contain). ). Long footage would be pointless if you didn't have editing software to painstakingly fix the timing mismatch. And who wants to deal with this problem more than once in 100 or so records? (Disclaimer: Do not burn movies or other software for which you do not have a fair use right.) Around June 2019 they stated that a firmware update was in the works to allow recording of unlimited size files, but as of February 2020. it didn't come. I almost returned mine for a refund but figured it might be of little value for deleted recordings less than 30 minutes long. And maybe before I die in 1-20 years (I'm 62 after all) they'll get this firmware update for longer (hopefully FULLY correctly synced) recordings than just 30 minutes (and with more write speed range, e.g. to 5Mbps and up to 19 Mbit/s)! I now have an 11 year old Hauppauge HD analog set top box which is not that portable but has no file size limit to record in the WIDE bitrate range of 5-13Mbps (where the highest bitrate looks very good) . , because most of my recordings are of this type. Unless this ClearClick box improves significantly (thanks to a firmware update for me, which allows unlimited file sizes and bitrates in at least 5 tiers from 5 Mbit/s to 19 Mbit/s enabled) and I will soon have to recommend everyone else to buy this device. In its current form it is practically useless. :-(
