I have big socks for me and a 10 -year olds (I wear a size 7 or 7.5 for women and a foot size smaller than mine) and an average size for my 5 and 6 year old boys. They are good for my feet but I only wear them at home. They are comfortable and have some cushioning as I usually wear regular Hanes cotton/poly socks. My 6 year old boy says his feet are warm and cozy. These are the first thick socks I bought him. My 10 year old didn't like them. He said his feet had gotten colder, like he wasn't wearing socks. He usually wears regular Hanes cotton socks or heavier polyester/cotton socks bought at Walmart. Therefore, he is generally used to wearing thicker socks. I would guess it's wool, it would feel better. I have yet to wash them and try them out myself while I'm outside. So far the younger boys and I are happy but my older son says they are a BIG NO so I'll take 6 pairs for myself.
