After using this device for 1 hour I am very satisfied with the product. second monitor. Between a gaming PC and a MacBook Pro for work, I was able to switch between the two hosts with relative ease. This device works as intended (I haven't tested the sound function but everything else works great)! Cons: First, I'm glad I read the details about it, there's nothing in the box other than the power cord. ; Make sure you have extra DP cables and USB A => B cables. Second, if it's near the back edge of the table, it does have rubber feet to keep it in place, but it's not heavy enough, to offset the weight of the wiring you're about to attach, he wants to lean back. Third (minor things): after quickly toggling KVM between 1 and 2, it lost reporting the correct resolution for one of my monitors (both 3840 x 2160) and was reported to the OS as 2560 x 1440. This was quickly fixed by reinstalling the DP cable from the back of the failed monitor. Conclusion. Given the choice between StarTech and this item, I thought it reasonable to decide whether the extra $80 was necessary. While the StarTech presentation is a little better, this TRENDnet device looks very good. Perhaps more expensive devices with EDID emulation will solve some of my minor frustrations, but I'd say I'm glad to have achieved this for $200. Both monitors are supported on both computers at 4K 60Hz via the Displayport (the MBP is powered via two separate USB-C => DP cables) and at the moment I'm just waiting for a dual monitor mount to free up some remaining space share on desktop . However, this device has earned a permanent place in my office. To respond to some of the negative reviews I can share with: I have a Razer BlackWidow Elite (both USBs from this device connected to KVM) and a Mamba Elite (connected to the keyboard's USB port). Both work perfectly. Although both of my monitors are Samsung 4k, one is new and the other is older (LU28R55 and U28E590 respectively). As mentioned above, both work at 4k 60Hz with no issues. They're powered by my GTX1070 on my gaming PC, and the MBP has an ATI 570 or something (I'm not tracking it, it's just a working PC). As far as cables go, I didn't buy anything special to get this running. I just went to NewEgg, found the cheapest yet most reliable cables I could find, and then hit buy. -Surname; it works perfectly. Finally, the last negative review I can point to is the use of DP => HDMI cables. Although I haven't tried it, every one of the cables I looked at stated very clearly (if not obscuring something) that these cable types aren't bi-directional, so you can't go from HDMI => DP; from DP => only HDMI (which obviously doesn't work with it, since it needs DP on the other end). Which makes me think of dual USB-C=>DP cables; again they work perfectly. TL; DR: Don't be stupid, read the documentation, plan right, get the cables you need and save $100 on this KVM; I'm so happy it's working as well as it is now and I'm sure you will too!
