I bought this dish to cook mains and sides in hotel microwaves. This item is large enough to steam vegetables for four people. I've also used it to steam thick salmon steaks with a little lemon, oil, salt and pepper. A few teaspoons of water on the bottom and just about 3 minutes in the microwave - wonderful! I was only going to use it for travel, but it ended up in my kitchen for cooking fish, sliced and wrapped squash, and sweet potatoes. Cleaning is usually easy with a sponge, dish soap and hot water from a hotel sink, or wipe down and place on the top shelf of the dishwasher. However, I do not recommend using the scrambled eggs. Clean up was a little more difficult. I only recommend it for dishes that need to be steamed, so I always use the removable steam rack. My only complaint is that the lid and bowl have to be perfectly aligned for all four side clips to snap into place. So it may take a few tries to rotate the cover 45 degrees each time until all four clips snap into place.
