Great product, reasonable price

I bought the first of these two about a year ago while doing my current build. One of the deciding factors in choosing this model was that the time (9-9-9-24) was slightly faster and at the time only a few dollars more expensive than its slightly slower counterpart (10-10-10-27). I mainly use my computer for gaming and development, but I also have a small home recording rig. All of these things can be resource intensive in certain situations, so being able to squeeze every inch of my machine's performance with the money I set aside was a big deal. What I didn't consider was that I wanted to buy extra sticks. They have been hard to find for about 9 of the last 12 months since I ordered parts a year ago. I didn't want to buy another type because the memory would drop to the slower of the two speeds. Since ordering this last stick I have only seen once that they are no longer available. So I'm just mentioning this for those of you who are buying 1 but want a second one in the future. Just try to collect money and get both at once. 16GB is a lot of RAM unless you're running a lot of VMs at once. The only time I can remember even using up 5GB while playing was one of the last missions in SC2 Heart of the Swarm. Of the later games with AAA titles, I've only played Titanfall and don't recall using my system with more than 4GB. All in all a great product, it was a little frustrating to get another one. And yes, I checked newegg and TD when I wanted to buy a second one and they weren't there either.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Nothing
